Easter Chick

This sweet little chick is one of my favorite Easter crafts to make with the kids. His body is made by stamping a round bath pouf in yellow paint. His nose can be made with orange construction paper or craft foam. His eyes are made with black paper and a hole punch, and his wings, or course, are yellow feathers. So cute!

Easter Buckets!

We made these cute chick buckets today! The beaks and feet are made out of craft foam, and we carefully used a permanent marker to write the kids names and make eye lashes. We made wings with feathers, and got jumbo googly eyes! Everything was glued on with Elmer's glue. A glue gun would have worked better. I may have to go back and reinforce the eyes and feet. Overall, I think they turned out great, and will look super cute filled with Easter eggs!

Watermelon

We made some paper plate watermelons the other day. First I cut some paper plates in half and had the kids paint the inside of their plates red. Then I realized we were out of green paint, so I mixed blue and yellow and came up with this baby poop green. The kids painted the outer edge of their plates with the baby poop green and finally used their fingers to dab on black seeds.

April Showers....

This is a poster that I helped the kids make today. We used their handprints as umbrellas and flowers, and their finger prints for rain. The grass was cut by my four year old, and she also had the idea to use her yellow handprint for a sun.

ribbit

This is a froggy puppet that my four year old and I made. We were inspired by her baby brother's awesome pants!

Caterpillars

We made some classic egg carton caterpillars last week. Even though this would have been a better craft for spring or summer, I saw the empty egg carton and couldn't resist. Plus I got some really cool colored google eyes at the dollar store that have been begging to be used! The antennae are pipe cleaners. I think these little guys are really cute.

Buzzzz

This is a bee hive made by stamping bubble wrap in yellow paint. I already had the wooden bee cut out. This would be cute for Valentines day. You could write "bee mine."

Bird Feeder

We made bird feeders just like Fancy Nancy in Fancy Nancy: Explorer Extraordinaire! First we cut out pieces of bread with cookie cutters, then we poked holes with straws and inserted the string. Finally we spread peanut butter on both sides and sprinkled on the bird seed. When I say "we" I am referring to myself and my three year old friend. My one and a half year old ate his bird feeder before it ever saw the bird seed.

Chicks

These are some cute little chicks we made with paper plates. (I told you I like paper plates) The kids painted the plates yellow and glued on the google eyes, beak, and feather. The beaks were made from a piece of paper. Just fold it in half, cut out a triangle, and unfold. We didn't have any orange construction paper at the time, so we had to use white paper and color it orange. The legs were made from pipe cleaners. I twisted them around my finger to give them some curl and taped them onto the plates. These are a great Easter or spring craft.
